Become a Junior Commission Officer (JCO) (Religious Teacher) in the Army

Applications are invited from male candidates only for recruitment as Junior Commissioned Officer (Religious Teacher) in the Indian Army who fulfil the following eligibility criteria :
  • Vacancies: 36 posts (Pandit-29, Padre-5, Bodh Monk - 2)
  • Qualification :
    • Pandit: Madhyama in Sanksrit or Bhushan in Hindi or equivalent standard in the regional language concerned. Those who have passed BA with Sanskrit/Hindi as one of the elective subjects but not have done Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi are also eligible.
    • Padre: Any person who has been ordained a priest by the appropriate ecclesiastical authority and is still on the approved list of the local Bishop.
    • Bodh Monk: Any person who has been ordained Buddhist Monk Priesthood by the appropriate authority. The term Appropriate Authority means Head Priest of the Monastery where the person has been initiated into priesthood.
  • Age: 27-34 years as on 26/11/2007.
  • Physical Standard: As applicable to the regular army [Height-155cm, Weight-50Kg, Chest - 77 cm, Candidate should be able to run one mile in eight minutes.
  • Pay Scale: JCO will get the pay scale of Naib Subedar of Rs. 5620-140-8140

How to Apply: Candidates are required to submit duly filled prescribed Application Form along with all required documents duly superscribed "Application for JCO ( Religious Teacher) RRT-55 Course" on the top outer cover of the envelope to the Headquarter Recruitment Zone of which the candidate is domicile. Candidate has to appear for the written test from the same place. Candidates found eligible will be issued call up letters by concerned HQ RTg Zone/ARO etc. for initial screening which will include checking of original certificates and medical examination. The screening candidates will be put through written examination which will be conducted on 27 July 2007 and will comprise of Two papers, one for General Awareness (Max. marks 250) and second for knowledge specific for particular religious denominations (Max. marks 250) to which the candidate belongs. Successful candidates will be interviewed at selected Regt Centres.
