Applications are invited for the posts of District Judge in the Judicial Service of the State of Maharashtra :

• District Judge : 14 posts, Pay scale : Rs.16750-20500/-, Age : not less than 35 years and more than 48 years of age., Qualification : a holder of Degree in Law (b) practicing as an Advocate in the High Court or Courts subordinate thereto for not less than seven years on the date of publication of Advertisement OR Must be working or must have worked as Public Prosecutor or Government Advocate for not less than seven years in the post or posts. In computing the period of seven years the period during which the candidate has worked as an Advocate shall be included

Selection Procedure : Eligible candidates will have to appear for Competitive Examination/ Written Examination which shall be of not less than two and half hours duration with 200 marks. The High Court shall hold viva-voce examination carrying 50 marks of candidates who secure not less than 50% of marks at such written examination. Provided that Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe candidates who obtain 45% or more marks in the written examination, shall be eligible for the viva-voce examination.

How to Apply : Application should be submitted only by Registered Post or Speed Post in the prescribed format with copies of testimonials and two passport size colour photographs, one duly affixed on application and one in separate envelope without pinning it to any paper so as to reach the Registrar General, High Court, Bombay – 400032, on or before 30th August, 2008. The application should be accompanied by fees in the sum of Rs.1000/- for General category and Rs.500/- for SC/ ST candidate, in the form of demand draft in favour of Registrar, High Court, Appellate Side, Bombay, payable at par at Bombay.
