The Raman Research Institute (http://www.rri.res.in) invites applications from motivated individuals with a background in Engineering, Science or Computer Science to be a part of and contribute to challenging new developmental projects in Radio Astronomy. The Astronomy & Astrophysics Group at the Institute has built and operates three major radio telescopes in India and overseas. Our main areas of research and development include (1) Digital signal processing (2) Real-time and application software as well as techniques for signal and image processing (3) Antenna & feed systems (4) Low-noise microwave receivers (5) High-speed analog and digital data transmission, and the work is directed to experimental / observational astronomy goals. Applicants should be able and willing to work in remote field stations of our institute or of any other collaborating institutes, located in India or abroad.

Eligibility: First class B.E. / B. Tech degree in Electronics & Communication / Computer Science or equivalent. Candidates with a Ph.D. in Physics / Astronomy / Electronics / Signal Processing may also apply.

Positions and Remuneration: A maximum of two candidates may be selected for appointment as Engineers in the pay scale of Rs.8,000–275–13,500 (+ allowances as applicable to Central Govt. employees), amounting to a minimum of about Rs.16,500/- per month. Additionally, we may offer up to two candidates with minimum two years relevant experience appointment in the salary scale of Rs.10,000-325-15,200 (total present emoluments at the minimum of this scale is about Rs.22,500/-). There will be a two-year probationary period in all cases. RRI has a liberal policy that allows the staff to pursue higher studies under external registration scheme.
