- Qualification: Minimum Higher Secondary (10+2), or equivalent (as on 31.12.2006). Candidates having Higher Secondary with ITI will begiven preference.
- Age in years (as on 31.12.2006):
- Min: 18 years
- Max : Gen-30 , OBC-33, SC-35, ST-35
- Selection Procedure: Written Test and interview of candidates qualified in the written test. In case of a large number of applications, short-listing of candidates for calling for the written test will be done on the basis of the percentage of marks obtained in the eligibility qualification i.e Higher Secondary or equivalent examination.
- Fee: Rs. 200/- for General & OBC candidates, Rs.50/- for SC/ST candidates. Non-Refundable Demand Draft drawn in favour of SAIL - A/C DSP payable at Durgapur.

Applications typed on plain paper, giving full particulars as indicated in the format below should reach Post Box No. 8240, Dahisar (East) Post Office, Mumbai – 400068 along with an A/C Payee Demand Draft [ Rs. 200/ (Rupees Two hundred only) for General & OBC candidates and Rs. 50/- (Rupees Fifty only) for SC/ST candidates ] drawn in favour of “SAIL – A/C DSP,” payable at Durgapur. The application is to be sent only through ordinary post.
