UGC National Eligibility Test (NET)  December  2018  by NTA



On behalf of UGC, the National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) & Eligibility for Assistant Professor Both in Indian Universities and Colleges for Humanity subjects.





Till recently, the CBSE conducted the NET in 84 subjects at 91 selected Cities of spread across the country.

From December 2018 onwards, the UGC- NET (for Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor both), will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).


National Testing Agency (NTA) has been established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) as a premier, specialist, autonomous and self-sustained testing organization to conduct entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions.

The award of JRF and Eligibility for Assistant Professor both OR Eligibility for Assistant Professor only depends on the performance of the candidate in both the papers of NET in aggregate. However, the candidates qualifying exclusively for Assistant Professor are not to be considered for award of JRF. Candidates who qualify the Test for eligibility for Assistant Professor are governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Assistant Professor of the concerned universities/colleges/state governments, as the case may be. 




UGC NET by NTA



The NTA will conduct the next UGC NET between 9th to 23rd December, 2018. The Test will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only. The test will consist of two papers having 50 and 100 number of questions having 100 and 200 marks respectively.


Eligibility


  • Qualification : Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC   in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc.  are eligible for this Test. The Other Backward Classes(OBC) belonging to non-creamy layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ persons with disability (PWD) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.
  • Age : 30 years as on 01/12/2018.  A relaxation up to 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST/PWD categories and to women applicants. No age limit for Assistant Professor test.




Application fee :


Rs.800/- (Rs.400/- for OBC candidates and Rs. 200/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates) to be paid online.
