Examination Score will be shared with Private Companies
Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi announced that soon Government will share the score marks of Government competitive examination with private sector to improve employbility of the candidates. Prime Minister announced this at the Bloomberg India Economic Forum-2016 on 28th March 2016.
PM said "In a reform to eliminate corruption in government recruitment, we have abolished interviews for lower and middle level positions. They will now be filled on the basis of transparent examination results."
"You are aware that results of Government entrance examinations for engineering and medical colleges are being used by private colleges also. I am happy to announce one more measure to improve the labour market and benefit the unemployed.
The Government and Public Sector Undertakings conduct a number of recruitment examinations. So far, the scores in these examinations have been retained by the Government. Hereafter, we will make available the results and the candidate information openly to all employers, wherever consent is given by the candidate.
This will create a positive externality. It will provide a rich database that can be used by private-sector employers as a ready-made and objective sourcing and screening mechanism. It will reduce search costs in the labour market for both employers and employees. It will enable better matching of candidates from labour surplus areas with jobs in other regions. "
Thus it seems that most of the candidates need to prepare for Government Examination and even candidate for the private sector job will also appear to have a good score and good impact at the interview level. It will also provide an equal level playing field for job seekers. We think that this will be a good move and give job seekers a good chance to show their scoring level.

Update: In keeping with the decision of the Government of India (Department of Personnel & Training ) on making available publicly scores of candidates in recruitment examinations through portals with a view to providing a useful database to other employers to enable them to identify good employable candidates, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) issued a Disclosure Scheme for disclosing the scores and other details of the non-recommended willing candidates, who appeared in the final stage of an Examination (Interview), through its website. UPSC is now regularly disclosing the score of desired candidates on its website.

ReplyDeleteThis is not relate to reservation. It is to streamline the selection process. You will get marks in the examination which you can show to a private company employer so that he can evaluate you with other candidates based on the marks.
So, now everyone has to appear for government exams to get in private sector. Why would we call that "private" then?
DeleteThat also implies, those who haven't appeared for such exams will automatically be out of the process from private companies.
Another thing is, what's the guarantee that they won't give v consideration to these scores on the basis of casts?

ReplyDeleteYou are reading too much in it. It is not going to be mandatory. It is optional and also no private company is forced to adopt it. If they see benefit they will adopt other they will ignore.
I'm not reading too much in it. These are obvious doubts.
ReplyDeleteTell me one reason why anyone should not have them in mind.
A simple situation.. XYZ Company has two candidates with similar experience in front, one with a good score and other who didn't appear for the exam. Obviously the first one will get preference. Though it is not made mandatory for the company to look into the score, who doesn't want an effort free screening mechanism? So other candidate looses job in private for not appearing to government exam or he will be forced by situation to pay for all those exams unnecessarily and score good.
To support the possibility of cast based screening, I'll bring the fact to your notice that a couple of days before, a BJP person in MP has been asking for reservation in private sector. So, the things are not far now.
Still, i think, if you have difference of opinion, we should stop this here, this not being the platform for the same.
But i think everyone should look at both sides of the coin.
I request to our government Please stop the reservation in india & stop the politics on the reservation.
ReplyDeleteScreening in private sector over the years has largely been 'links' based, and not caste based. Those not having the maai baaps in the high posts in the private sector- and everybody knows who have got links there.
ReplyDeleteWhile I agree with you that the sharing of such scores will result in unnecessary burden on candidates for appearing in the exams, it doesn't autatically mean that the employer of the private sector would need to employ someone with lesser score just because he gets a concession of a few percent in govt recruitment.
Really guys this dumb, never expected from you. It just means that you can put your scores on your resume and in turn they can verify that's it. Nothing more. And if you are from Sc,st y would you show your marks unless it's as good as general candidate. So in one way it's good for all.
ReplyDeleteActually l request the government to reduce the unemployment in India, first you need to calculate demand and supply gap. Second you need to take feedback from the people whatever scheme launched by governments it reached to the people or not. Third they need to force private organisations to change their recruitment criteria, they always looking for the recently passed out candidates what about the other though have passed before but because of recession they faced major problems to get the job.
