Indian Forest Service Examination 2026 by UPSC
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Dholpur House, New Delhi, will hold a preliminary screening test for the Indian Forest Service (IFS) Examination 2026 to recruit Indian Forest Service Officers. (Advertisement No. 06/2026-IFoSE)
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will hold a Screening Test for selection to the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2026, through the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2025, which will be held on 24th May, 2026.
The pattern of the Indian Forest Service Examination 2026 has been changed, and candidates for the IFS Examination 2026 need to appear in the Indian Civil Service Examination (Preliminary) 2026 for the same. The Main Examination is likely to be held in November 2026.
Indian Forest Service Examination 2026 details
Post Vacancies: 80 vacancies (UR-33, EWS-8, OBC-21, SC-12, ST-6) (PWD-5)
Age: Not less than 21 years and not more than 32 years as of 1st August 2026. The upper age is relaxable for SC/ST/OBC and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice.
Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree from any recognised university with at least one of the subjects, namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit in accordance with the Regulations set out in the notice.
Number of attempts: The maximum number of attempts permissible to different categories of aspirants, who are otherwise eligible, will be as follows: (i) General Category - 6 attempts, (ii) OBC/PWD - 9 attempts, (iii) SC/ST - No limit
Plan of Examination: The Indian Forest Service Examination will consist of two successive stages (i) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) for the selection of candidates for the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination; and (ii) Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the selection of candidates for the Indian Forest Service.
Application Fee
Candidates applying (excepting Female/SC/ST/PH candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination are required to pay a fee of ₹100/- either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using Visa/ Master Credit/ Debit card.
